CAYUCOS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
PTA Minutes
Meeting called to order: 3:15 p.m.
Minutes: A motion was made by Shannon G. to approve the minutes and seconded by Grace P. The motion was carried.
Financial Report General: (Sherry Molnar) Financial report was reviewed. There is $19,500 currently in the checking account. A motion was made by Shelly M. to approve the transfer of $10,000 to the CD account and seconded by Gretchen R. All were in favor.
Payment of Bills: The bills were reviewed. A bill in the amount $508.89 to J. Ashworth for Halloween prizes, PTA 24th District National Dues in the amount of $512.00, and Mrs. Siemer for Cal Poly field trip in the amount of $150.00. A motion was made by Grace P. to approve the payment of bills and seconded by Shelly M. All were in favor.
New Business:
· We recieved a thank you note from the 3rd Grade for “Bungy Jumping Cows” performance at CalPoly.
· A fundraising idea from Gretchen R. was presented to the meeting regarding a raffle of a long and short surfboard. It would cost $1,000 for the boards and $300.00 for advertising and the cost of printing tickets. We will discuss further at the November PTA meeting.
· Grace updated us on Spirit Wear. A motion for a new style t-shirt for the girls and price increase was made by Kerry F. and seconded by Janice C. All were in favor.
· We recieved $1,315.39 from Albertson’s from the participating savings cards.
· We finalized the Halloween Carnival plans. Set up will be starting at 11:00 a.m. Shelly M. looking into borrowing a tent for the carnival. Ms. Siemer will be picking up the fish booth. We will do away with having a judged costume costest, instead we will have a presentation of costumes. Nadine Lilley will set up food booth. Suzy Miller will be spray painting hair and airbrush tatooing. Kevin Ashworth will be running the prize booth. Shelly M. and Shannon G. will be taking digital pictures and will hand stamp or take tickets for pictures. Donnia C. will be the MC.
· We finalized Halloween Walk. Popcorn to be dropped off at school by Thursday Night. Volunteers will be available to fill popcorn bags and at crosswalks.
· Mr. E. informed us that the Rotary will be purchasing the scoreboard for the gym. The website is up and to keep visiting the site for updated information.
· We would like to have Jeremy Bates come back for a parent night regarding “My Space” and cyberbullying. since we had such a poor turnout last month.
· Jancie C. brought to the school’s attention that a portable BBQ would be nice to have for fundraising school activities. Mr. E. stated he will find the funding for this.
